My journey with Mercer Health and Fitness began just 12 weeks ago. I was about to finish up another fitness program and wanted even more results. My goals were simple. Build more muscle, loose fat percentages and continue building stronger leaner muscle tone. After consulting with Matt about my goals he put a plan together to achieve the goals I wanted. I knew the work would be hard and the payoff would be even better.
Week one began with a physical assessment and a measurement of body fat. Matt also took the time to explain how my muscles would react to the exercises and how they would change over the next 12 weeks. I was so pumped up to get started, I couldn't wait to see the results. Matt also consulted me on my diet and supplements I should be taking. With these tools in hand off I went and started my first few weeks of personal training with Mercer Health & Fitness.
Withe each week I found myself surprised with how much my body and muscles were changing. The first 4 weeks I spend doing weight lifting routines. The weights just kept going up and up and before I knew it I was squatting 60Lbs. Wow! I performed dead lifts bench presses and overhead presses too. And every step of the way Matt was encouraging me and telling me "you got this".
Matt also spent some time teaching me stretching techniques. That really helped me a lot with my running. When it came tome for one of my race weekends Matt would spend a week training me for those as well so that my legs would be strong and carry me through.
As for the last 4 weeks of my personal training with Mercer Health & Fitness, I spent those density training. Talk about something I can get into? Well...I love a challenge. Bring it on! Matt came up with this one knowing I would take to it like a duck to water. Once again Matt was there encouraging me and telling me to keep giving it my all.
I love my results after the past 12 weeks with Mercer Health & Fitness. I see more definition in all muscle groups. Biceps, Triceps, Abs, Quadriceps, Hamstrings and Calves. I run longer distances and with less muscle soreness. I've lost 3% body fat and 4 lbs. I've gained muscle and gained more confidence about the way I look. I can finally wear a bikini again. YAY!
Thank you Matt for helping me achieve the results I wanted and for pushing me when I though I had no more to give. You always believed in me which contributed tot he results I attained.

"Right around the end of December, 2011, I made the decision to change my life. There were several goals I set for myself to that end, and one of those goals was to get back in shape and become healthy in body, mind and spirit.
I've been quite fit before, but a series of injuries over the past 3 or 4 years made it difficult to get the kind of exercise I needed. One of the more serious injuries I sustained was a fall a couple of years ago which completely messed up both of my knees, which were already arthritic from sports injuries sustained as a child. It was a challenge walking up and down stairs by the time I made the decision to get strong again.
As the new year dawned, I began training and nutritional counseling with Matt Mercer. I completely changed the way I looked at my diet, and Matt started my on the path of rehabbing my knees while getting my whole body moving again. He not only tailored the workouts to support knee strength, but he took the time to thoroughly researched the types of exercises I should be doing to strengthen my knees and avoid injury. Soon, I began to notice major changes in my entire body, and the increased strength and mobility in my knees has resulted in virtually no pain remaining in them at all!
Since I started with Matt a little over four months ago, I have lost 25 pounds, gained an incredible amount of muscle, and have gone down 3 pant sizes. The confidence I'm gaining on a daily basis is amazing. And it carries over into every other aspect of my life!
Personal training with Matt is never boring, always challenging, and I always leave with more energy than I came in with. He is tough but encouraging, and it is a real pleasure working with him.

For anyone who has never trained in martial arts when coming to Southern Nevada Martial Arts Academy you will have found something very special.....OR should I say something special has found you. Your Instructor Matthew Mercer is not only a very skilled Martial Artist,he is very patient in his approach. His Knowledge of the Art is clearly shown through the training he still receives from his Teacher.Matthew would tell you he has only scratched the surface.Yet when I saw the way he moved for the first time I was hooked and very humbled at the same time.You will find nothing quite like the training you'll receive here. All of the people I have had the honor to meet and train with here will treat you with respect and kindness.But be prepared to sweat!
